The transfer deadline for the Premier League is approaching fast. Teams have less than four hours left to get their business done.
So far Arsenal have only brought in two new faces, but several players have gone the other way already, with maybe some more to come.
Keep reading to get caught up with all of the Gunner’s business from Deadline Day.
Deadline Day Update
Players Out (Confirmed)
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool
In case you’re living under a rock, the Ox has moved to Anfield for a fee near $52 million. The England international made his debut for Arsenal at Old Trafford on the day of the infamous 8-2 defeat.
He leaves North London after his final appearance came in the 4-0 route at the hands of his new employer. His departure could possibly spell a crisis for Arsenal, as they are now down to only Hector Bellerin at RWB.
Kieran Gibbs to WBA
Another Englishman moving today is Kieran Gibbs, who will join Tony Pulis at West Bromwich Albion. The LB moved for a fee rumored to be about $9 million, bringing his Arsenal tenure to a close.
Unlike the Ox, Gibbs has not been getting game time recently, and last season he played consecutive matches only once. Sead Kolasinac’s move in paved the way for the out-of-favor defender to move on.
Donyell Malen to PSV Eindhoven
Malen came to Arsenal from Ajax in 2015 but failed to make a single first-team appearance. This is an out-of-the-ordinary transfer from the Gunners, who generally like to keep their prospects.
The fact the 18-year-old is already on the way out means one of two things; he just isn’t good enough, or that there is a plethora of attacking talent at Hale End. The transfer fee is undisclosed.
Kelechi Nwakali to VVV-Venlo (loan)
The young Nigerian is another Arsenal striker who has yet to make his full debut. He spent last season on loan with MVV Maastricht where he scored twice in 29 appearances.
Lucas Perez to Deportivo La Coruna (loan)
After arriving in north London last summer on deadline day for over $20 million, Perez didn’t get a real chance in the starting XI to prove his worth. Now, one year to the date, he goes the other way on a season-long loan.
Speculation persisted throughout the window that the deal would happen, but at times looked iffy. Deportivo representatives even went so far as to say the deal was dead.
I guess deadline day does things to people!
Joel Campbell to Real Betis (loan)
Another player entering the last year of their contract is the Costa Rican Joel Campbell. Despite picking up an injury on international duty over the summer, Spanish club Real Betis agreed to take the winger on loan.
Campbell spent the 2012/13 season on loan in Betis, making 28 appearances and scoring twice in all competitions.
Players In (Confirmed)
Players Out (Rumored)
Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City
The link that just won’t die; Pep Guardiola is reportedly not giving up on signing the Chilean sensation. Speculation suggests that the latest fee proposed by the Citizens is around $77 million, but is a cash-only offer.
Previously it was thought City would be willing to package Raheem Sterling along with cash to secure Sanchez’s signature. Arsene Wenger’s resolve will be tested over the next few hours.
Shkodran Mustafi to Inter Milan (loan)
This rumor flared up a few days ago but seems to have cooled. The German defender was rumored to want a move away after just one year at the Emirates, but this loan currently looks dead. Especially since Arsenal really need help at the back.
Mathieu Debuchy to Anywhere
The French defender is somehow still a Gunner, even after two seasons as a peripheral figure. He is known to want a move away, but suitors are being put off by his extreme wage demands.
Brighton and Hove Albion were linked a few days ago, but in the past Debuchy has also been linked with a move back to France. Either way, both parties will want to make a move happen!
Players In (Rumored)
Julian Draxler (PSG)
After the Neymar coup-d’etat, PSG all of a sudden had one very expensive bench-warmer in the form of Julian Draxler. The German midfielder moved to Paris in January, but with the Brazilian superstar’s arrival Draxler finds himself without minutes.
Especially if Alexis Sanchez leaves, the Sun believes Arsenal would buy the German playmaker. The rumored fee is around $41 million.
Thomas Lemar (Monaco)
This deal has been rumored all summer long, and with the departure of Sanchez seemingly more likely than ever, this link is red-hot. Reports suggest that Wenger has already made a bid of over $100 million.
If this deal goes through it will be the second time this window that the club have shattered their previous transfer record.
