It’s finally here; the 2017-18 Premier League! For the first time in history, the first match of the Premier League season will be on a Friday as the Gunners host the Foxes of Leicester. The club released the Arsenal team news so we know who won’t be playing. Let’s try to predict who will!

Arsenal Team News for Opening Night

Injuries

Santi Cazorla is still recovering from his many knee surgeries from last season, so will not be available, but who else is out?

Arsene Wenger confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will miss the opening game, and possibly the second match as well. Gabriel Paulista picked up an injury during preseason, and will join the Chilean on the sidelines.

The team confirmed that Francis Coquelin will be unavailable due to an ankle problem as well.

There are three players who are doubtful but may factor into the game. Mesut Ozil has questions about his ankle, Aaron Ramsey his foot, while Per Mertesacker may miss out due to the eye injury sustained in the Community Shield.

One name is missing from the injury list; Jack Wilshere. After missing out on the end of last season due to a leg fracture, the English midfielder appears to be available. But should he start?

Formation?

Arsenal team news is generally reliant on the preferred formation, at least since this back three thing started. So, should Wenger stick with it or try something new?

Well, the Gunners beat defending champions Chelsea twice consecutively using the Christmas tree formation. So, probably they need to stick with it. After all, Wenger could always choose to revert during the game if necessary.

Monreal had a cracker of a match against Chelsea in the Community Shield. So, as strange as it is, he will likely line up in the back three alongside Koscielny and Mustafi.
