It’s official; Alexandre Lacazette is officially a Gunner after passing his medical examination and agreeing to personal terms.

He is Arsenal’s second signing of the summer, following Sead Kolasinac who joined from Schalke.

Alexandre Lacazette Signs For Arsenal

In a statement from the club’s official website, Arsene Wenger said this,

“We are very happy to have Alexandre join our group. He has shown over a number of years that he can score goals and that he is a very efficient finisher. As well, he has very interesting technical qualities and a strong character. So he is a guy who is a great addition for us, and someone who will help us challenge at the top level this season.”

The transfer fee is, as it almost always is, undisclosed, but is thought to be a club record. However, after add-ons, the price for the striker is somewhere between $60 and $70 million.

Alexandre Lacazette’s arrival comes after his transfer to Atletico Madrid fell through.

What to Expect

Alexandre Lacazette made his Lyon debut in 2009. He spent the better part of eight seasons with the club.

He made 275 appearances in all competitions, scoring 129 goals in the process. Included in those matches are 24 appearances in the Europa League, where he netted eight times.

This experience should serve his new club well as they embark on their inaugural campaign in the competition.

Alexandre Lacazette’s playing style seems to fit right into the Arsenal mold. He previously played on the wing for Lyon, before switching to striker.

His main assets are his pace, technical ability and scoring touch. Meanwhile, Lacazette also tends to press opposition defenses high up the pitch in an attempt to win the ball back. He has been likened to former Arsenal striker Ian Wright.

Players have already taken to Twitter to show their excitement over their new teammate.
